Solar System Key Fact

  • The Solar System consist of the Sun, The Eight Planets, and their satellites (moon), thousand of other smaller heavenly body such as Asteroid, Comets, and Meteors.
  • The Sun is at the center of the Solar System and all the these bodies are revolving around it.
  • The Gravitational pull off the sun keeps all the Planets and Other objects revolving around it. Thus, the motion of all the member of the Solar System is governed by mainly the gravitational force of sun.
  • Planets revolve around the sun in elliptical orbit.
  • In the Solor System the planet nearest to the Sun is Mercury and the fastest from the Sun is Neptune (bot pluto)
  • The size of summit system has been estimated to at about 10^5 A.U.
  • The Solor System is dominated by the sun which account for almost 99.8% of the matter in the whole Solor System.
  • The sun is also the source of all the energy in the Solor System.
  • Pluto is a Dwarf Planet.
  • Mercury,Venus, Earth, Mars, are called Terrestrial planet and Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Naptune are called gaseous olanet.
